For months and months they told us
That he could never win. The time is now upon us. Hillary is getting in. In meetings all last winter, The experts told us how The dust would all be settled, We'd have a Clinton now. That Sanders guy surprised us. He rallied pretty good. But in the end she beat him Just like they said she would. So she is set, her path is clear, The Democrat on top. The talking heads all told us That she would never stop. She wowed them in the cities On both ends of the land. Her victory more certain With every shaken hand. Meanwhile Trump stood on the stage With fourteen other guys, Saying things a lot of folks Didn't think was wise. He kept on till one by one He left the all behind. Causing all the talking heads To say things quite unkind. "The voters all will sober up, They can't be all that dumb. In the end were sure he'll get A downward pointed thumb." With glee they pointed to the folks In early voting lines. "Hillary is winning, Just look at all the signs." On the night they waited for, With maps of red and blue, They spent their time telling us What they knew to be true. As the evening did unfold, They sat with faces long. Could it be for months and months All they had said was wrong? When you work in public, It really hurts to be Wrong in your predictions For all the world to see. It pays to get the story right And to be seen as nice. Since you folks did neither, Well here is my advice. Just because you're wrong no need To live a life forlorn. There's always the weather, Or advice for selling corn.
