![]() I watched a circus on TV, They called it a debate. I can’t say what I learned Was really all that great. But boy, the entertainment. Wow, that was a show. Like the Packers with 10 seconds And 40 yards to go. We’re not sure how this will end, Or even how it starts. But it’s about as dignified As school boys trading farts. They shook hands, stood in line, Wearing suits and ties. With smiles painted on their lips And hatred in their eyes. Read our entire issue and back issues. Click here. The leader asks a question. They answer with a shout. It soon becomes apparent They don’t know much about The meaning of the question, But that doesn’t slow them down, From pointing out the other guy Has acted like a clown. To almost every question When asked what they would do, They tell us how Obama Has bungled that up too. And then they say the other guy Has flip-flopped on that twice. Just once to get an answer straight Really would be nice. One guy is rich, that’s fine; But he’s been bankrupt once or twice. If that’s his plan for us I guess To know now would be nice. Two guys are from the Senate. What a productive bunch. Bang the gavel, call it quits, Have a two-day lunch. One guy is a doctor, That expertise is nice. But healthcare is a problem, Not the doctor, it’s the price. I think the rest are governors, Or have been at some point. They’ve had to make decisions, And bureaucrats anoint. Does that make them ready now To make four years of rules? To take charge of the Navy? To dictate lunch at schools? I wish there was a farmer Out there in the mix. With a little common sense. She’d know just what to fix. My Dad always told me, Don’t wish away your year. With all this noise, I’ll be glad When November 9th is here. David Kragnes farms near Felton, Minn.
