I always tell the guys to fill The fuel tank to the top, Don't drive by with a tractor Just hit the brakes and stop Fill that fuel tank to the top
Before you go afield. Pull up to the diesel tank And see what it will yield. The spraying water transfer pump Is easy to forget, Without a little gas in there It just won't pump a bit. The pump will sputter to a stop When at the farthest field. You shake the plastic service can Which not a drop will yield. I tell the boys time and again It really isn't hard, To make sure that the tank is full Before you leave the yard. It's so true for the mower Before you start to mow, Make sure it is full of gas And it is set to go. Why would my wife ever drive And let the low light flash? When she can fill at Petro Serve With either card or cash. And so I mention once again To both my kids and wife, Plan ahead, fill the tank, Get yourself set for life. The combine takes the longest time For the tank to fill. But fill it now or later, And I still pay the bill. So I have preached time and again Both to my kids and honey, You can fill the farm machines And not spend extra money. I have time to contemplate All that I have said. All the admonitions Keep running through my head. Out in the center of a field, It's nice and quiet out here. My wife drives up the service truck And grins from ear to ear.
