The Red River Valley Sugarbeet Museum in Crookston announces the selection of the Duane Lien family as their Honored Family for 2018. Duane’s father, Norton, began raising sugarbeets in the 1930s, with Duane planting his first beets in 1949. Sugarbeets have been a staple on the Lien farm ever since. Duane served on the Growers Association Board and then for 12 years on the American Crystal Board of Directors. Duane’s sons, Kevin and Norlan, have taken over the farming operation along with their sons Brett, Maxwell and Austin, who planted their first beet crop in 2015, being the fourth generation to do so. The museum is honoring Duane and his family for “Continued Dedication and Leadership to the Sugarbeet Industry.” Sugar Beet News | via Crookston Times https://ift.tt/1eYEKib August 20, 2018 at 02:30PM |
