Most farmers are at the tail-end or finished with their sugarbeet harvest. Last Friday, Oct. 27, under cloudy and cold skies, friends and family of the late Mark Yaggie finished harvesting his sugarbeet fields in northern Wilkin County. Yaggie, the son of David and Jeri Yaggie of Breckenridge, Minnesota, was a pilot and farmer who died July 2 in a plane crash, leaving behind three sons. Seven lifters and more than 30 trucks were busy all day bringing in the last of his crop. His cousin Jeff Yaggie said in addition to the Yaggie family, crews from the Blaufuss, Anderson, Hasbargen, Dohman, Tischer and Torkelson farms were assisting. Richard Yaggie said the family is very grateful to everyone for helping out.
