The Red River Valley Sugarbeet Museum in Crookston, Minn., will celebrate its 6th annual Harvest Festival on Sunday, September 12.
     The event kicks off with a pork dinner starting at 11:00. Sugarbeets will be harvested with restored equipment from the ’30s, ’40s and ’50s. Newly restored this year is a 430 John Deere unit with grab roll changeover kit.

     Germains Technology Group announced in early July its relaunch as “Germains Seed Technology.”
      During the extensive process, the company surveyed its customers as to what their needs were of a seed technology company. Germains said it also incorporated its employees’ input as “key to shaping our future.”

     For the seventh consecutive year, Bayer CropScience has donated $2,000 to industry internships and scholarship programs in the names of six sugar beet growers. The growers were selected from a drawing sponsored by Bayer CropScience during the American Sugarbeet Growers Association (ASGA) annual meeting in Charleston, S.C., in early February. The winning growers had the opportunity to choose which industry organization they would like to show their support to through the donations made by Bayer CropScience. Each winner also received a Garmin Nuvi® 205 GPS unit, courtesy of Poncho® Beta seed treatment.
 
 
     Valent U.S.A. Corporation and Monsanto Company have strengthened their partnership in the Roundup Rewards® program with updated incentives to help farmers protect their herbicide investment in 2010. 
     The companies have joined forces on two programs: the Volunteer Roundup Ready® Corn 2 Cost-Share Allowance and the START CLEAN, STAY CLEAN.Assurance Plan.

     The November/December issue of The Sugarbeet Grower carried information on the new cane sugar refinery being built at Gramercy, La., by a partnership comprised of Cargill, Inc., Imperial Sugar Company and Sugar Growers and Refiners (“SUGAR”), a group of cane mills owned by Louisiana sugarcane producers. The joint venture 
Louisiana Sugar Refining (LSR) — is expected to refine approximately 75% of the raw sugar coming from Louisiana-grown cane.
