about 150 people. When operational,
it will refine approximately 75% of the raw sugar from cane grown in Louisiana. The new facility will have an annual refining capacity of about one million tons of sugar.
Louisiana Sugar Refining is a joint venture of Imperial Sugar Company, Cargill, Inc., and Sugar Growers and Refiners (SUGAR) of Breaux Bridge, La. Each entity has one-third interest in LSR. SUGAR is a cooperative comprised of eight Louisiana sugarcane mills and roughly 700 sugarcane growers.
